Young family beach outing

oil on canvas,
50 x 80 cm (19.5 x 31.5 inches),
painted on location, sat. 31 march
SOLD

Hello Everyone,
Here is Saturday's painting,

Here is a typical scene on the beach in Holland around this time of year. Still rather chilly, but the sunshine makes it pleasant. As you can see by the white caps on the water, it was a windy day, perfect for sailing. The subject of this scene is a young families outing, mother and child approaching the father with the family pet dog. I have lined them up, together with the wooden pole, thus forming a diagonal line, cutting thru to horizontal lines created by the waves. It also helps in creating depth.

I appreciate your comments, and like I've stated already, feel free to share these postings with anyone you feel might be interested.

Bye for now,

Alberto, il pittore.

Djoa posing in the studio

Djoa posing in the studio.
oil on canvas, 70 x 90cm
SOLD

Hello Everyone

As I said yesterday, today I painted in my studio. I am very lucky to have such a great space as you can see in the picture. The other artist is Jane Walker. Fritz de Groot took the picture. The model was posing behind the green curtain.

This is a style of painting I developed called the, Progressive Nude Series.
I start with quick studies of the model, as the two on the top of the painting, then the final pose is painted in an hours setting. Thus the name "Progressive". This is a small format for this series, normally I work on 100 x 150 cm canvas.

It gives me great pleasure to share my work with you all and I look forward to your kind remarks.
Tomorrow its back to a nature scene which will most likely take place somewhere along the seashore, Kijkduin.

A warm handshake,

Alberto, il pittore

Soaring above the North Sea

oil on canvas. 30 x 40 cm.
painted on location, Thurs 29 March 2007

SOLD

Here is todays painting, Yet another work depicting waves gently rolling and breaking on the North Sea shoreline.
Thought I'd spice it up a bit with the bird in flight. Besides the sea birds, there wasn't much activity in the water, except of course for the constant formation and breaking of the waves. And the shift in the tide. I arrived at low tide, set myself up about 5 meters away from the shoreline, had to move my easel back 4 times before the high tide positioned itself.

As I have already stated, I am in the process of setting up a site that will post daily new paintings. I am building up my mailing list so for now I would appreciate the addresses of anyone you feel would like seeing a painting a day of scenes from Holland.

Tomorrow I have a 3 hr life drawing/painting session in my studio, as that takes place every Friday morning. Thus, you guessed it, you will have the pleasure of looking at what I make of the female nude model.

It would be nice to hear from you.

Bye for now,
Alberto, il pittore
